Are the brightness and colour of objects creations of our perceptual system?
Q. Are the brightness and colour of objects we see creations of our perceptual systems, or properties of the objects themselves? Or has this not yet been proven? i understand that there objects do have a certain colour and brightness but does or own perceptual system cause each person to vary maybe what shade of that colour it is or the exact brightness of the object?

A. Brightness and color are in the visual system of the beholder. An object has the physical property that it reflects certain wavelengths of light, but there's nothing innately colorful about waves. Visual systems make them so. Humans have 3 color opsins in the retina, and every color we see is a ratio of their respective activations. In the most common form of colorblindness, the medium wavelength ("green") receptor is shifted too close to red. Two people might look at the same scene, but if one is red-green colorblind, they will experience greenish colors differently.
