Cuil (pronounced /ˈkuːl/ "cool" according to the creators) is a search engine that organizes web pages by content and displays relatively long entries along with thumbnail pictures for many results. It claims to have a larger index than any other search engine, with about 120 billion web pages. It went live on July 28, 2008.

Cuil's privacy policy, unlike that of other search engines, says it does not store users’ search activity or IP addresses.

Cuil is managed and developed largely by former employees of Google, Anna Patterson and Russell Power. The CEO and co-founder, Tom Costello, has worked for IBM and others. The company has raised $33 million from venture capital firms including Greylock.

A. A complete mess. I can understand the site not working with all the hype it received and free marketing from the press. So it was mildly expected to not be at peak performance, thought they would have expected it and anticipated it but that is not the real problem. The results...After all that is what a search engine is all about, the results. completly worthless ! I search for my name first and recieve a hodge podge of mostly irrelevent results and spam. Google usually has 5-7 pages of good results before getting into the worthless ones. But the one that basically told me this site will be gone by the end of summer (and not becuase they were bought) was i searched for my business in "Cuil." We have two locations and numereous awards and… [cont.]

A. it's not working Edit It's working now. The results are showing too many for sale stuff in it's results. The display results are to hyper, placed in columns on the pages. It's too complicated, it would be better if they were just listed in one column especially for us ADHD people. Too many pages from the same site are listed on the search results. I did four different searches and each time one website had four of their pages listed in the first page of results. The robot seemed to only read parts of pages and not necessarily the meta info. Did a search for motocross tracks in Michigan and 4 insurance site pages displayed on the first page of the results and none of which had anything to do with mx tracks in Michigan. Too many… [cont.]
